Families Anonymous UK 2010 Convention

The AGM and Convention were held for the 3rd year
running in the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Birmingham on 17/18
April 2010.

A good number attended the AGM on the Saturday and many more came for the Convention on the Sunday.

The organisation by the Birmingham group was brilliant and they did well to get such a good deal on the room / evening meal / breakfast for those that stayed over.

They are planning to do the same thing for next year 2011, no dates yet, but watch this space!! At the Convention we heard shares from partners, parents, and siblings of drug addicts, and also a share from an NA member in recovery. All were extremely powerful and moving shares. At times there was barely a dry eye in the house. At other times we laughed at the insane things we ourselves had done in an attempt to 'fix' or 'cure' our addicted loved ones. There was plenty of opportunity to meet up with other FA members from all over the country. The feeling of fellowship one gets from being at a Convention is amazing.

The importance of service was emphasized over and over
again. Answering the helpline, doing admin in the office, and many more small tasks are done by volunteers without whom this wonderful fellowship would not exist to offer comfort and support
to the suffering newcomer.

Roll on next year's Convention when we can all meet up
again.
